Location: Brussels, Belgium | Find them: Dansaert Taproom – Brussels Beer Project
We tried a lot of exceptional traditional beers on our trip to Belgium, but it was refreshing to find a modern brewery offering more contemporary styles. Brussels Beer Project has tap rooms around Belgium and in France, but we were lucky enough to find one about ten minutes from our hotel.
What we loved
At first glance, the bar looks quite small. There’s a handful of tables at the front (we were able to grab one in the window) and there are a couple of tall tables opposite the bar itself. At the back is a corridor leading to the toilets.
But walk past the toilets and the bar opens up again. On one side is the brewing equipment and on the other, plenty of seating.
Back at the bar, you’ll find a pretty extensive menu of modern beers, including pilsners, lagers and IPA, wits, stouts and more so you’re sure to find a style that suits. There are 24 tap lines, plus bottled lambics.
What we drank
Brewster Gang: Cold IPA 6.5%
Brewer’s note: Brewster Gang is a Tribute to BBP’s formidable women! 100% brewed & designed by our female talents, in collab with Pink Boots Society. Among the hops we used, we chose the Pink Boots Blend 23 made by Yakima Chief Hops, that donates a part of the sales to Pink Boots Society. Pink Boots Society takes part into the celebration of women and non-binary individuals in the fermented/alcoholic beverage industry — a movement to recognize the impact they have on our industry.
Chockablock: IPA 8%
Brewer’s note: The CHOCKABLOCK is a collab with our friends, Siren Brew Co, a great brewery from the UK. This hazy IPA is full of oats & wheat that give a creamy mouthfeel, alongside a huge double dry-hop with Mosaic, Simcoe, Cascade, Ekuanot et Amarillo Cryo hops, bringing all the exotic fruits to the yard!
