Brewery: Wiper and True | Find them: Wiper and True. Beautiful Beer from Bristol

Not just a new brew, but a new brewery for us – we’ve never tried any beers from Bristol-based Wiper and True before, so we decided to sample a few from their range.

We started with the pale ales and finished with the stouts. They were all very good beers. Well-balanced flavours and good representations of the styles.

Of the pale ales, the Lemondrop Hill was my favourite. It was light, fizzy, and juicy with grapefruit flavour upfront and lemon on the finish. Very refreshing and only 4% ABV, so you could easily have a couple of these.

Of the stouts, the milk stout was my favourite (but only just). It was dark and creamy – very easy drinking. The coffee stout was decadent and sweet – also very good.

We’ll definitely be looking out for more Wiper and True beers going forward.

The beers

Sundance IPA (5.6%)

Brewer’s note: Bursting with juicy tropical fruit flavours such as mango and pineapple, and layered with hedgerow berry notes and citrus, Sundance combines the finest US and UK hops to create a crisp, complex, highly refreshing IPA.

Lemondrop Hill IPA (4%)

Brewer’s note: This bright, citrus-fresh Pale Ale combines zesty lemon aromas with subtle pine notes. A final touch of florality combines to create a wonderfully balanced Pale Ale that just happens to be suitable for those living a gluten-free diet.

Kaleidoscope Pale Ale (4.2%)

Brewer’s note: Our Kaleidoscope series combines three different hops to create a seasonally evolving flavour profile. Whilst the hops change, our intention remains the same – to create a beer that is harmonious, bright and refreshing. A superbly balanced pale ale that matches citrus refreshment with tropical haze.

Espresso Martini Shake Coffee Stout (5.6%)

Brewer’s note: An indulgent, decadent stout inspired by the world’s best cocktail: the espresso martini. Smooth, velvety and deeply satisfying, this is a beer to savour.

Beer of the night

Milkshake Milk Stout (5.6%)

Brewer’s note: A milk stout uses sugar made from cows milk to give the beer a sweet, creamy tone. Bristol breweries were once famous for brewing the best milk stouts around. For our take on the traditional recipe we’ve used copious amounts of chocolate malts and vanilla pods to create rich, velvety and satisfying dark beer.

Northern Monk & Wiper and True Collab

Dark Matter: Decadent Stout (8.4%)

Northern Monk is one of our favourite breweries and since we were trying beers from Wiper and True, we thought we’d see what their collaboration beer had to offer. It was a decent stout – rich, roasty, and dark.

Brewer’s note: Northern Monk and Wiper & True unite in a space race to find Dark Matter – a decadent imperial stout. Rich and thick with big roasted malt and deep chocolate flavours for a space-age take on a traditional imperial stout.
