Location: Manchester | Find them: Sureshot Brewing | Taproom
After popping over to Manchester for a Friday night gig, we spent the Saturday afternoon visiting a couple of taprooms. First on our list was Sureshot. Located in the railway arches, around the corner from Cloudwater and Track, and just a couple of doors down from Balance Brewing & Blending.
What we loved
Manchester has some great breweries and we visited nearby Cloudwater and Track on a previous visit. Unfortunately, Sureshot wasn’t open when we were last in the area, so we made sure it was top of the list this time. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. They offered some recommendations and let us have a couple of tasters so we could decide which to go for first.
The brewing equipment isn’t inside the taproom, so it feels more like a bar than the other two. And it was a Saturday afternoon, so not surprisingly, it was busier than the other taprooms had been when we visited on a Monday. despite that, we were able to get a table and try some delicious beers.
What we drank
Absolutely Electric: Hazy Pale Ale 5.5%
We started with this lovely hazy pale ale which was everything you’d expect from the style. A very strong start to the afternoon.
Brewer’s note: Pale ale double dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin T90, Kohia Nelson Sauvin, Rakau T90 & Southern Cross T90. Sweet, juicy grape and lime. You’ve never experienced this sort of atmosphere before.
Is That Your Final Answer?: Fruited Sour 4.5%
Next up, we went in for this raspberry, cranberry, and cherry fruited sour. We love a sour and this one was good. We’d have liked a little more tartness, but it was lovely and refreshing.
Brewer’s note: Raspberry, cranberry & cherry fruited sour brewed in collaboration with Bundobust. Crisp cranberry imparts a puckering zing to fleshy, zippy raspberry with cherry sour sweetness to finish. Oh, that’s fantastic!
Monkey Fighting Snakes: Double IPA 8%
Our last beer before heading to Balance Brewing. This DIPA was divine. It had dank, overripe mango flavours, a full-bodied mouthfeel and low bitterness. Our favourite of the three.
Brewer’s note: Double IPA brewed in collaboration with Brisbane natives, Range. Dry hopped with Citra BBC & Cryo, Nelson Sauvin T90 & hop kief, Rakau T90, and Galaxy T90. Sit back, relax, enjoy the fight.
Visiting
Sureshot Taproom is located on an industrial estate, just a short walk from Piccadilly station. It is conveniently located near Cloudwater, Track and Balance, so we recommend trying a couple of others off while you’re in the neighbourhood.
